A spectator sport?

I love the spectators almost as much as the runners :)

You can find a few short videos that I took of the runners on my youtube channel – including ‘oggy oggy oggy, oi oi oi!’ in one of the Central Motorway’s tunnels :) flickr also updated!

Two picture Monday – Great North Run and the Red Arrows

September 19, 2011  |  Great North Run, Newcastle upon Tyne  |  6 Comments

Racers start to pour down the Central Motorway. I’ve never actually watched it from one of the bridges before… it was a great vantage point, even though I didn’t get there early enough to get one of the best spots. My little man had a rather disturbed night so I kind of slept through my alarm :/

I do love the Red Arrows, but it was so, so sad to see them fly towards the Tyne Bridge in the Missing Man formation. To see the gap where Flt Lt Jon Egging should have been. I may have confessed to twitter that I shed a tear watching them fly past. Thinking of them without their colleague; thinking of his widow without her husband.

More pics (of both the runners and the Red Arrows) will be on flickr soon (and clicky here for one on facebook too…. and if you’re lucky maybe a vid or two on youtube!

It’s four years since I did the Great North Run. I think next year might be time to do it again :)

First few Great North Runners, Sunday 5th October 2008

GNR, Newcastle, England

The first few runners over the line on Sunday.

I’ve said it before and I’m sure I’ll say it again – but I’d love to know what kind of deal the Great Run people have pulled with the devil.  It is ALWAYS sunny.

Over the next few days I’ll post some more photos and put some on flickr too.  I only saw the start this year; next year I’ll get some pics on the Tyne Bridge.  Maybe the year after I’ll go to South Shields for the end – wouldn’t mean getting up so early which is a bonus!
