Theme Day: Pedestrians Crossing

pedestrians crossing

This is the first theme day I’ve participated in in… well… too long. June 2012 – ten months ago. How on earth did that happen?!

As soon as I saw the theme of ‘pedestrians crossing’ I thought of this crossing. It’s at the top of Northumberland Street, near both universities, and if you look at the picture you can see that those crossing are doing so ‘on the red man’ – when you’re not supposed to cross (although it’s not against the law like it is in some countries). At this crossing if you wait for the green man I think people think you are a little strange :)

You’ll be able to see other interpretations of this theme day here. So far my faves are Vrennis Vienna Daily Photo, Julie of Sydney Eye and this amazing pic from Jim at Sydney City.

Also, in exciting news, I’m featured on the city daily photo portal :) How exciting! Thanks Julie!

Playing with pictures week: St Nicholas’ clock

March 22, 2013  |  Buildings, Churches, Newcastle upon Tyne  |  No Comments

This is the clock on the tower of the Cathedral Church of St Nicholas, with the colour removed from the rest of the picture (and at a very Tenin-esque angle, as apparently I can’t help myself). Do love this clock! What do you think?

Two picture Sunday – the Journal Tyne Theatre

I’ve never been to the Journal Tyne Theatre but I’ve often thought I should, just so I can say I’ve been.

The Cathedral Church of St Mary

There’s not one but two cathedrals in Newcastle. St Nicholas is the main one, but there is also the Cathedral Church of St Mary. Both are near Central Station, but St Mary’s is closer – if you leave the station and look left you will see it. It’s near the Centre for Life.

Jesmond Parish Church

Jesmond Parish Church, Newcastle, UK

Jesmond Parish Church a week or so ago in the morning sunshine.  This church does a fantastic candlelit carol service in the run up to Christmas – it’s not far away now, but to see the colour of the sky here you’d never think it.
