We’ve not had a Tenin-esque shot for a while, so here’s one of the Blue Carpet outside the Laing – it seems like a suitable subject!

hoppings-wheel

Sorry for going AWOL for a few days. I didn’t mean to. Just really busy and couldn’t find the time or energy to post. The Hoppings was partly to blame (took up the whole of my Thursday night, interrupting my flow!), so it’s only fair to post this pic. More hopefully to follow.

Civic Centre Tower

civic-top

Another Civic Centre shot today, this time as close-up as I could get to the Tower at the top. You can see the ring of seahorse heads, but if you look closely you can see the smaller inner ring above. I love this pic of the tower against a beautiful summer sky.

Summer outside the Civic

civic-outside

The sun had gone in on the day last week when I took this shot, but people were still sitting outside the Civic Centre and watching the world go by. There are worse places to be.

Going to the Hoppings tomorrow night and hoping that the weather holds out – it’s lovely so far! Pics later in the week.

World Cup flags

flags

These flags are in the window of the Corner House, a pub in Heaton at the corner of the Coast Road and Heaton Road/Newton Road.

Longest day today. I’m setting this post up at 22.37pm Sunday night, and it’s still not totally dark yet. Amazing.

I love all the local details.

BHS Mural

bhs

This mural is on Northumberland Road, outside the side entrance to BHS. Apparently the mural was commissioned by Newcastle City Council and Northern Arts back in 1974. Come back tomorrow for pics of each individual mural!

(Or if you’re impatient you can check out timmonet’s pics halfway down this page!)

PS Sorry for the late post – I’m away and had to get my husband to email me the pics from home as I forgot to set the post up in advance!! Thanks D :)
