Two picture Sunday – Plummer Tower

May 31, 2009  |  Newcastle upon Tyne  |  2 Comments

Plummer Tower on Croft Street.

The plaque says ‘The Plummer Tower, built in the late thirteenth century, was granted in 1742 to the Company of Masons who partly rebuilt it. The only surviving two story tower’.

The plaque says ‘Tyne and Wear County Council’. That hasn’t existed since 1986.

A close up of the wing of the angel of the north. I love how it looks almost velvety.

Someone mentioned the swimming pool that fills up with sea water the other day. You can see the corner of it on this photo.

This is actually a new photo today. It’s a shot of the spire of St. Nicholas Church and features the Castle Keep in the lower right.

Another place that’s been featured here a few times. Tynemouth Priory is well worth a visit if you’re out at the coast.

It’s my best mate’s birthday today. Happy birthday J! Have a great day.

I love the detail on this doorway near Central Station.
I think it belongs to a hairdressers. Strange but true.

Two Picture Sunday – Post Office building

The old Post Office Building, opposite St Nicholas’ Cathedral and near the Castle Keep, the High Level Bridge and Central Station.

A close up of the name of the building. It’s not used as a post office any more but I’m not sure what it is.

I love the reflection of the cathedral in the middle window.

Taken at Tynemouth over Easter weekend. Hopefully the weather will be good this weekend – if it is, I think these will be full…

Good to be back everyone!
