NUT RE POSTS 001resize.jpg

This is where all the big name bands and shows take place.A ‘cattle shed’ of a building.I would much rather see a band in a pub then this place.

Although very popular with the gay community,a lot of ‘straight’ people go to see the show too.(It was here for the first time last year.) The area it was showing in is known as the ‘Pink traingle’(I will show more images from Newcastles gay area another time). Be quick, only 2 days left!

This a close up of the second of the two NG gold clocks. Last week the bottom part of this one fell off and missed a gentleman ,who was passing by just a few inches.Although painted in gold plate the bottom is actually made of stone and the council suggested that the bolts holding it in place had eroded over the years!

This magnificent building has housed this famous jewellers for many many years. There used to be 2 NG, shops in town but the other one closed down. Both had the magnificent gold plated clocks on the store front above the door. Tomorrow I will show you a close up and tell you a recent news story concerning the other one.

Another view of the Central Arcade shopping area.It is only a small arcade housing only about 10 stores. The most well know is J.G.Windows music store, selling cds, dvds, instruments, and even sheet music. It has been estabilished in Newcastle for a hundred years.

Since I started my new job I am having real trouble getting on to my computer, and even worse than that I have a lot less time to take photographs. For the forseeable future my Saturday and Sunday posts will be old posts. The visitor figures are a lot lower on a weekend so it shouldn’t be a repeat for so many people, and it gives newer visitors a chance to old images.

(Thanks to Denton for the idea.)

If I turn round from where I was sitting for yesterdays photo this fine sculpture can be seen. The Cluny has great work all over the bar aswell as a dedicated area for showing local artists work.

A bar I have show you before but this time a picture from inside. Aswell as being a pub it also has a venue(up the stairs at the back),and also a space for art work from local artists and photographers. Bits of art are all over the bar.I love the picture of Johnny Cash reflected in the mirror at the bar.
